WHY WEST LOUISVILLE?
Goodwill Industries of Kentucky rooted itself in the Parkland neighborhood on a 20-acre property to help support a proud but deteriorating community that has struggled to help many of its residents establish self-sufficiency.
West Louisville is a nine-neighborhood community where the median household income is $21,000. The area has endured years of disinvestment that has left many of its 65,000 mostly African American residents underserved in a community that has limited employment opportunities.

“To have Goodwill headquartered in west Louisville – on a property that is currently in a state of disrepair – is a blessing… Goodwill has a desire to engage the community and is willing to participate in open dialogue, which is going to make this investment successful. Providing career services and job training to this underserved part of Louisville will give our citizens a much-needed hand-up.” – Louisville Metro Council President David James
